Volunteers are the lifeblood of any nonprofit organization,
but they are especially important to us and our birds.
Whether you're interested in in-shelter bird care, education
and outreach, or helping plan special events, we would love
to hear from you. We need you!
In-Shelter Care of Birds
This includes cleaning cages, preparing food, bathing,
feeding, watering, and socializing the birds. You can help
make the birds' stay more enjoyable and prepare them for
their new homes.
Humane Education
One way to reduce the overpopulation of captive birds is
through education. Volunteers visit classrooms with
Feathered Friends staff members to teach children about
responsible animal care and pet ownership.
Adoption Outreach
Feathered Friends occasionally has birds available for
adoption at off-site locations. Outreach volunteers educate
the public about our sanctuary, explain our policies and
procedures, and answer questions about available birds.
Special Events
Feathered Friends attends special events and fundraisers
throughout the year. Volunteers may help set up our area,
staff an information booth, answer questions about the
sanctuary, and assist with many other activities.
Other Skills
We welcome people offering services such as skilled trades,
handyman work, landscaping, veterinary care, accounting,
photography, marketing, or the many other skills needed to
operate a rescue. If you think you have something to offer,
please contact us.
Fostering
Many people contact us with an interest in fostering. We do
not currently have a fostering program except in rare
circumstances when a bird requires highly specialized care.
Thank you for your interest.
